Fall Classic Final Game Attracts 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extended matchup that saw the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a combined over 50 million spectators in the US, Canada, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this marks the most-watched Fall Classic finale since the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest secured 27.33M audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated Fall Classic matchup since the 2017 Game 7 involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% improvement compared to the previous finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

International Audience Figures

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the most-watched English program in the country since the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series MVP Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The overall World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to last year and the network’s best playoff ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball stated that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various tongues.
